AgCarE.org.AU is proud to announce the appointment of Julie-Anne Schafer as its new Chair, alongside an impressive slate of Directors dedicated to advancing sustainable agricultural practices. These appointments strengthen AgCarE’s capacity to deliver its purpose of empowering producers with innovative tools to address challenges in natural capital management and sustainability, as well as putting them back in critical conversations.
Julie-Anne Schafer – Chair
Julie-Anne Schafer brings extensive experience leading boards that serve membership organisations and drive commercial growth. An expert in governance, strategy, and risk management, Julie-Anne’s national perspective and diverse sector expertise align seamlessly with AgCarE’s goals. Holding an Honours degree in Law from the University of Queensland and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD), she is a recognised leader in fostering innovation and sustainable practices. Julie-Anne is committed to enhancing AgCarE’s impact by leveraging her background in legal, regulatory, and stakeholder relations across Australia.
New Directors Include:
- Andrea Koch
An industry thought leader in digital and sustainable agriculture, Andrea Koch has deep expertise in translating science into practice and strengthening industry-research relationships. A former Board Director with the National Farmers Federation, Andrea has been pivotal in initiatives like the Australian Farm Data Code. Her vision for technology-enabled competitiveness in agriculture complements AgCarE’s objectives. - Ben Waters
A Chartered Accountant and agribusiness expert, Ben Waters has years of experience in corporate finance within agriculture. His deep knowledge of production systems and technology implementation makes him a valuable asset to AgCarE’s strategic and financial goals. - Ricky Mio
A producer with over 30 years of experience, Ricky Mio brings practical insights into sustainable farming and producer advocacy. His passion for driving continuous improvement aligns with AgCarE’s mission to empower producers. - Peter Mahony
A founding visionary of AgCarE, Peter Mahony has been instrumental in developing the organisation’s natural capital rating system. His expertise in strategic planning, government negotiations, and stakeholder engagement ensures AgCarE’s continued success in its mission.
