2 July 2024.
A lot has happened this week on the Live Sheep Export Ban front. Unfortunately the Bill passed the House of Reps early in the week and two motions in the Senate from the Nationals to get a Senate Inquiry were defeated.
A Keep The Sheep delegation is travelling to Canberra for a series of meetings with Senators on Monday and Tuesday and to do what they can to impact the outcome of the debate and the vote. Now is the time to send out emails to help us get a clear message to the WA senators and the crossbench. We need to make them understand the level of community support for the export industry and the negative consequences for our shearing industry, our workers and our local communities if the Bill is passed.
