Put your hands together for AgForce golden girl Chelsea Hartwig.

The 22-year-old was delighted to be crowned Miss Showgirl at the Toowoomba Royal Show, and hopes to use her new status to inspire more youngsters to pursue a career in agriculture.

Chelsea, who is a liaison officer for AgForce’s School to Industry Partnership Program, found her passion for agriculture through school programs and working on her family’s cattle farm, Hartwig Pastoral Co, north of Toowoomba.

“I believe I have the best and one of the most important jobs in the world,” she said.

“Educating the next generation about where their food and fibre comes from is vital and identifying clear career pathways into the sector will hopefully increase employment within agriculture.”

“You only know what you know and our future lies in the next generation so why not educate them.”

Chelsea was joined at the show (March 30 to April 2) by SIPP colleagues, who were on the ground to connect students with food and fibre produced on the Darling Downs.

We also welcomed back the AgTastic trail, which provided visitors with a fun way to explore the show and learn about agriculture.

Potential rural ambassadors enjoyed a Young Leaders Professional Development Workshop and lunch.
