Central Queensland primary producers wanting to learn how to use innovation, financial structures and long-term planning to build a sustainable agribusiness are encouraged to attend a special forum in Rockhampton in mid-December.

AgForce Central Queensland Regional President John Baker said the aim of the free ‘Future Proofing Your Business’ forum was to help primary producers understand the changing agricultural landscape and how to ensure their businesses remain productive, profitable and sustainable.

“While the impact of the ongoing drought has received a lot of attention recently, agriculture has a bright and vibrant future. Queensland is Australia’s most valuable agricultural state and the industry is one of the fastest growing in the country with global demand for our high-quality food and fibre continuing to rise,” he said.

“This forum is an opportunity for producers to hear from a range of industry experts who will provide tools and ideas to help them build a sustainable business for the future, with a focus on financial planning, agribusiness structures and using innovation to generate off-farm income.”

The ‘Future Proofing Your Business’ forum will be held at Callaghan Park Race Club in Rockhampton from 11.30am to 5pm on Wednesday 12 December 2018.

Guest speakers and presenters will include Ben Waters (FTI Consulting), Cal Foulner (Beanstalk AgTech), Lisa Lonsdale (Londsale Agribusiness), Eric Pearse and Matthew Briese (JB Were), Frances Becker (McCullough Robertson), Peter and Nikki Thompson (Soil2Soul), Elisha Parker (cattlesales.com.au) and Nikki Thompson (Personal and Business Coach).

Mr Baker said forum attendees would also get free tickets to the ‘Moovers and Shakers’ Cocktail Party from 6pm, with Foodbank CEO Michael Rose as guest speaker and entertainment provided by the Whisky Mountain Boys.

“The evening event following the forum is a chance to park the drought, have some fun and network over drinks and canapes,” he said.
