Ensuring a strong and sustainable future for Australian farmers will be a key focus of Mitchell cattle producer Robyn Bryant in her new role as a National Farmers’ Federation Board Director.

Mrs Bryant, who is also the AgForce Southern Inland Queensland Regional Director and Regional President, was elected as an NFF Board Director at the peak body’s annual general meeting in Canberra this week.

She is the only Queenslander on the nine-member NFF board and will serve a three year term.

Mrs Bryant said agriculture was the nation’s fastest growing industry, generating 1.6 million jobs across the supply chain, and she was looking forward to helping champion the industry’s issues at a national level.

“Agriculture touches the lives of every Australian, through the food we eat, the natural fibres we wear, and the economic prosperity we should all enjoy,” she said.

“With global demand for our high quality food and fibre growing significantly, we need the right policy settings from governments at all levels if agriculture is to reach its full potential.

“Balancing sustainable agricultural production with good environmental outcomes, better telecommunications services and better transport and water infrastructure are among the issues we will have to focus on to ensure our industry has a strong and sustainable future.

“Agriculture is a shining light in the Australian economy and I’m delighted to be taking on this new role as an NFF Board Director at such an exciting time for our industry.”

In additional to running a cattle property near Mitchell, Mrs Bryant has been an AgForce Director and the AgForce Southern Inland Queensland Regional President for the past three years, and has previously worked as a Maranoa Regional Councillor and as a biosecurity officer.
