Almost 200 future producers and
agri-businesswomen and men will gather at the Ekka this afternoon to hear about
the benefits and rewards of a career in agriculture.
AgForce General President Grant Maudsley said the school children will get a
taste of a career in agriculture during RNA Career Conversations presented by
AgForce and CQ University, in the Ekka's Centre Ring.
"This group will hear from young leaders from the beef industry as well as
other representatives from a range of organisations including AgForce,
Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and CQ University," Mr Maudsley
said.
"The students have been chosen because they are involved in the
agriculture industry through their school's show team, junior judging and
junior paraders."
Mr Maudsley said the event would demonstrate that a career in agriculture was
as diverse as breeding cattle or planting a crop, right through to technology
development and scientific research.
"We want to encourage students to take the next step towards an exciting
and rewarding career in agriculture by giving them an opportunity to hear from
potential future employers," he said.
"It is also an opportunity for our industry to speak to future employees
and explain what agriculture can offer them."
Each student will receive information about educational options that will lead
to a fulfilling career in the agriculture industry.
