Aim
The aim of the AgForce Grains Innovation Award is to recognise individuals or organisations for their commitment to enhancing the long-term sustainability and profitability of the grain supply chain, through innovation, technology and development.

The awards are open to all producers (not only grain) that have delivered a benefit to the sector through innovation.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the AgForce Grains Innovation Award, applicants must be:
  • A resident of the state of Queensland OR
  • Be a business that operates in the state of Queensland.
Entry
Entrants may nominate themselves or be nominated by a business, farm group or individual. All nominations must address the following judging criteria.

Judging criteria:
  1. Describe the area of innovation, technology and/or research and development you have introduced or implemented into the grains industry or on farm. What are the positive, measurable outcomes for the grains industry?
  2. What do you see as possible future developments within the industry and what will drive these developments?
  3. What was the catalyst for the innovative developments that you have introduced to the industry?
  4. Can the development approach be applied to similar problems/opportunities and could it lead to changes in overall industry practice and management across Australia?
  5. Outline why you believe it is important for young people to take up careers in agribusiness and agriculture?

Innovation may be demonstrated through:
  • Adaptations to on farm machinery and equipment, which improve productivity and reduce expenditures
  •  Application processes and/or management practices, for example chemical application
  • On-farm operations which enhance grain production, combat climate change and/or maximise environmental sustainability and wellbeing
Application process
  • Nominations should address all criteria listed above
  • Nominations must not exceed a maximum of two (2) pages
  • Appropriate supporting documentation can be attached in an appendix
  • Nominations must include two (2) photographs of the nominee, relevant to the application
  • Photographs must be supplied in a JPEG format
