Ongoing Flood Support

AgForce Queensland president, Ian Burnett, visited primary producers impacted by recent flooding over the past few days to further gauge the extent of damage caused by the latest severe weather event and to substantiate our calls to provide Category C assistance to affected areas. If you are in an affected district and would like to coordinate a farm visit or small gathering contact Ian Burnett on 0407 598 998 or Sarah Due 0427 144 298.

Over the course of the last week AgForce has worked to identify some of the key impacted areas through communication with members - although it is understood a number of members are yet to have their communication networks restored.

AgForce is now looking to help navigate members through the recovery process and is liaising with Government as to how the rural sector can best be assisted.  This includes continuing to press government for urgent Category C assistance in significantly affected areas and to encourage the deployment of financial counsellors and industry recovery officers. The organisation will also continue to gather information pertaining to stock losses as well as property and infrastructure damage in order to substantiate the evidentiary requirements of the Category C assistance declaration process.
