AgForce welcomes biosecurity expert as North West Regional Manager
Tuesday, 7 Mar 2017
Barcaldine based Dr Sarah-Jane Wilson has hit the ground running today as AgForce’s North West Regional Manager.
Sarah-Jane replaces Dominic Burden who is returning to work as a sheep producer on his property Macsland, west of Longreach.
AgForce CEO Charles Burke said Dominic had been lucky enough to be in a position to finally re-stock his property after being completely de-stocked for a number of years as a result of the drought.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank Dominic for all of his hard work over the last 12 months, he has constantly gone above and beyond for our members and will be missed,” Mr Burke said.
“We are delighted to welcome Sarah-Jane to AgForce. Sarah-Jane is a qualified veterinarian who has worked all around the globe as a researcher, biosecurity consultant and veterinarian.
“Most North members would already know Sarah-Jane through her last role as the Northern Australia Regional Manager for the Livestock Biosecurity Network.
“Biosecurity is always high on AgForce’s agenda, more than ever now with the Biosecurity Act 2014 providing the potential for productivity gain through reduced regulation.
“I believe Sarah-Jane brings an exceptional amount of relevant experience to the role and will continue to provide western Queensland with the drive to deliver good outcomes for members.”
Sarah-Jane Wilson said: “I am excited to get started in my position as North West Regional Manager and I am looking forward to getting out on the road and meeting with members to hear first-hand about the issues in the region.
“This role is a great opportunity to work locally with producers to enable better outcomes for people and production.
“My most recent role with the Livestock Biosecurity Network has meant that I have already met a number of producers in the area and it is very apparent how important biosecurity is to their businesses.”
