Groovy Gumboot competition
How groovy are your gumboots?
AgForce and the Australian Agricultural College Corporation (AACC) invited Queensland school students of all ages to participate in the 2010 AACC Groovy Gumboot Competition.
Students wre invited to design and decorate a gumboot of any size and colour, so that it reflects a relationship to the rural sector.
The most creative Gumboot entries were displayed at The MEATing Centre, Commerce Pavilion, RNA Showground from 5-14 August.
AgForce represents the important Queensland industries of beef cattle, sheep and wool and grains. The AACC offers a wide range of full time, part time and short courses across Queensland. AACC’s flexible approach provides solutions for school and campus based students and for trainees and existing workers in the agricultural industry.
Competition winners
The Groovy Gumboot Competition wa open to Queensland school-age students in three different categories :
Category 1: Primary - Years 1 - 5
Winner:
Bailey Bradshaw (Year 3 - Charleville School of Distance Education)
Finalists:

Fletcher Newsom (Year 5 - Proston State School)
Mackenzie Bradshaw (Year 4- Charleville School of Distance Education)
Category 2: Middle school - Years 6 - 9

Riley Webb (Year 7 – Cordalba State School)
Finalists:

Travis Allen (Year 5-6 – Proston State School)
Blair Wright (Year 7 – Millmerran State School)
Category 3: High school - Years 10 - 12

Amy Louise Urquart (Year 10 – St Ursula’s College, Toowoomba)
Runner-up:
Cherise Lawson (Year 11 – Charters Towers State High School)
Prizes:
Category 1: A Blue Heeler plush replica plus your school will receive a set of 4 fantastic Workboot Series books on wheat, wool, vegetables and chicken.
Category 2: An Ariat gear bag and Whip plus your school will receive a set of 4 fantastic Workboot Series books on wheat, wool, vegetables and chicken.
Category 3: An RM Williams gift voucher to the value of $300 and three finalists in category 3 will receive a 2010 TASTE experience.
* All category winners receive a trophy.
