Transaction levy
Sheep transaction levy
This levy is collected under the Australian Meat and Livestock Act 1997.
The legislation stipulates that the transaction levy shall be collected at an ad valorem rate of 2% for both adult sheep and lambs.
For lambs, the levy shall not exceed the value of $1.50 and shall not be applicable for lambs valued at less than $5.
For adult sheep, the levy shall not exceed the value of $0.20 and shall not be applicable for adult sheep valued at less than $5.
* Where there is a defined sale price of $5 or more (no levies apply to sales of less than $5)
†To a maximum of $0.20. Where there is not defined sale price - $0.20
††To a maximum of $1.50. Where there is no defined sale price - $0.80
